Routine Jobs for June
Containers:
- Plant hanging baskets, tubs and window-boxes. Siting them out of
the midday sun, using slow-release fertilise and lining terracotta
pots with polythene will help watering and feeding.
- Move established containers outdoors, deadhead regularly.
Trees, Shrubs and Climbers:
- Prune shrubs that flower in early summer such as broom, choisya,
kerria, lilac and philadelphus.
- Check climbers regularly, and tie back new growth.
- Prune ornamental almonds, cherries, plums and peaches now if they
need it.
